HMRC has said it intends to launch a personal online service for PAYE employees, mainly to be used to ensure tax codes are up to date, particularly in the event of changes to benefits in kind. The intended launch date is April 2014, but in an initial pilot phase HMRC is looking to identify employers who provide company cars, and whose staff may be willing to review this pilot service and provide feedback.

Assuming it works as intended we would see this service as an extremely useful tool to complement RTI, but of course there needs to be clear understanding between the parties about obligatory reporting requirements and on whom these ultimately fall.
